Someone tweeted about "counting calories" earlier and I've been thinking about how this is just nowhere near as important as a load of other stuff that is impossible to communicate to people who haven't gone through the nutrition rabbithole
nw, I didn’t read it as flippant at all, though I don’t think this message is well-understood the sheer volume & demand for garbage nutrition advice indicates that it’s not obvious to most people that valuable diet insights have to come from personal experimentation

i mean this is precisely it. the end goal of nutrition is not to maintain a certain weight level, which is why it's pretty deeply obscured. the point of nutrition is to make more obvious the physical dialectic you have with your body aside from being a brain powering a flesh mech

meanwhile necessary to the statement of "not eating garbage" is to discover precisely what garbage means. more than more calories meaning more work, do you know what percentage of your diet is carbs? what carbs offer you other foods can't get? this stuff is way more important
