now that I think about it: after basically a lifetime of interacting with mostly the children of wealthy professionals, I’ve never heard anyone say they come from a ‘wealthy’ family most I’ve heard is ‘upper middle class’ and even that feels rare

yeah, I guess I had in mind like ultra wealthy, but it is interesting how one kind of Discovers class growing up. That it's not always clear cut even up close
