Almost all of the jobs in my hometown are in traditional industries (retail, teaching, healthcare, a few big corporations)

On some level, people in tech seem to believe they are architects working *on* the machinery of capitalism, rather than players working inside it

I think this perception mostly stems from proximity to the small class of real architects (influential and/or high profile founders)
