      If you cycle through rage, hopelessness, and depression over an issue, congratulations... you're in deep. I'm here with you. It's natural to have low moments. Take gun violence...

      But it's not true. We can do concrete things to effect change, like: 1. Agitate on SoMe #Enough #docs4gunsense 2. Join a movement like @MomsDemand 3. Speak to your elected officials about commonsense laws 4. Be a gun safety voter 5. Support high-quality research Now about #5...

      No one denies the need for research. The desire to decrease injuries and deaths and find evidence-based approaches to this very American problem is a non-partisan sentiment.

          Here's one, supported through a @physicianwomen fundraiser this month: https://www.classy.org/give/184078/#!/donation/checkout … {Side note: my Twitter friend @miltsdad contributed to AFFIRM in my name, and I was moved beyond measure. Talk about a gift that keeps giving.}

          It doesn't have to be a big gift... $5, $10... whatever feels right to you. When I gave, I thought - this isn't much. But maybe it will help do research that will create safety measures that will delay a potentially fatal shooting by one second and spare a life.

          Advocacy is hard. It's not just posting on social media It's the showing up, the calling, and - invariably - the giving. It's hard, and exhausting... and worth it.
