It’s grim watching behind-the-scenes scientific conversation going from best practices to “ok how do we at least mitigate the stupidity”

My impression is that stupidity, ignorance, and denial embraced by the authorities kill as many people as do pathogens in a pandemic. This is the lesson of the historical records of these outbreaks. Mitigating stupidity is important.

It's clear they've given up isn't it? There is still no effort to exponentially increase testing and tracing. It seems that the political strategy is now management of the worst possible outcome, likely by trying to scapegoat some mixture of China, Fauci, and the previous admin.

Given up? They never had a plan other than, "It all goes away."

We need more stories, more photos and videos (blurred as needed for privacy). Not to convince Trump supporters, that’s a cult. To show people who are vaguely aware of what’s going on. Yes, there are way too many of those, unfortunately.
