    If your answer to "hey, let's make it less likely that people will be killed by bullets" is "what about this other random health problem over here?" then a) you don't care about the bullet holes in people and b) you think others don't see right through empty hand waving

        I pictured the waving hand with a bullet hole through it. It's like setting up your classroom looking for the spots you are going to try to hide the children.... hard to not see the violence in my head anymore.

        The epidemics of false equivalency and what-aboutism not only create unnecessary, counterproductive noise, they dangerously fuel polarization. In the face of this kind of anti-intellectualism it’s increasingly hard to find common ground amidst the bluster.
