We have been thinking about some stuff along these lines with @staeiou and @nvaroqua at @UCBIDS. Could you recommend any other reading on this topic? (also, have you heard about https://timreview.ca/article/512 )?
I've wanted to intersect with CHAOSS for a while, but I've always felt that it was more focused around "corporate" open-source (as in, linux foundation-style open-source). Is that not true? (I promise I don't mean this in a confrontational kind of way :-) )

Many people participate in
@CHAOSSproj. Some come from corporations. Some are academics. Some are developers. I would say it is difficult to know about the focus from that point of view, except for "development metrics about FOSS / FOSS for development metrics" -
And don't worry, it didn't seem confrontational to me ;-)

If that's about persons contributing to
@CHAOSSproj, definitely many of the people involved are funded either by research projects or by companies. But even so, many (most?) of us contribute as individuals, as we think is better for the community. But of course that's my view...
