Seriously? There is no non-deprecated way in 10.8 to figure out what version of Mac OS X you're on? Parse the SystemVersion.plist is it???

@chockenberry I think that says more about the nature of reality than Gestalt. -
@mjtsai True, but parsing Gestalt is a pain, so it tends to happen in one place. Easier to sprinkle NSClassForString and -performsSelector:

@chockenberry@siegel@mjtsai@peternlewis I remember using Gestalt when setting min system in the plist was unreliable, and only in main().
