his competence as a prosecutor and leader. In a city full tech workers who are mostly pragmatists used to delivering value incrementally and adjusting based on metrics and analysis, he has done the opposite of what many expect from an execution standpoint.

I’m not going to wade into the debate as to whether or not his ideas and policies can be effective with proper execution, but it seems more and more that San Francisco is the wrong place and wrong time for this experiment.

The major tasks that must be done: 1) is to know why kids lose their way in school, in life, by the time they're 18 2) craft effective programs to help & address this. This would be the best solution; good money well spent. Trying to fix/remediate the end results is far harder.

Pointing out problems isn’t the same as implementing solutions. I would argue an all-or-nothing approach rather than a gradual weaning will in the end set back this movement, because it’s failure will serve as an indictment of the ideas rather than the implementation.
