Bruce McEwen: groundbreaking scientist and open, kind, and down-to-earth person. His discoveries of stress neurobiology improved our understanding of human health; as did his concern about child well-being. So appreciative of his contributions, so sad to loose a wonderful person.

Much needed research on child poverty, but far too little research on fluctuations of family income in shaping developmental outcomes. Changes to family income have become more common over recent decades.

For children living in disadvantaged communities, summertime experiences can lead to worse health, social, and emotional outcomes. We need to address lack of access to quality programs and exposure to dangerous conditions.
