I wish Google Maps had a "I'm walking home by myself at night" mode that would show you a way with well lit paths and open spaces. It always seems to take you on narrow, dark pathways in cities

I suggested this as part of a usability study for the now-defunct Google Trips app: those with different needs should still be able to sightsee safely and easily. I hadn't even considered the potential of being vulnerable at night.
BTW on the accessibility front, Aussie startup @disabilityio has being working on solving this issue, but it takes a lot of effort to map the details https://abil.io/
