After much contemplation, I have decided to leave Theresa May's Government. I'm grateful to the PM for giving me the opportunity to serve the UK and I will continue to represent my constituents as the MP for Daventry.

Today, I have announced the UK Government will commission abortion services in Northern Ireland, following continued inaction from . For too long, women and girls of Northern Ireland have been denied access to basic healthcare.

Don’t think I’ve seen UK Twitter as unified on any subject as it is tonight.
Not sure remain MPs quite understood what they were doing just then. When they voted against the “programme motion” they voted to pause progress of the Brexit deal and probably made our leaving the EU without a deal more likely.
We need a leader with a proven track record of delivery, the resilience to lead our country, a mandate from the British people and the ability to defeat Keir Starmer.
That’s why I’m backing to finish the job he started in 2019.
Delighted and honoured to meet with The Prince and Princess of Wales during their visit to Northern Ireland today. The huge crowds in Carrickfergus underline the continuing affection and admiration for the Royal Family in this part of the United Kingdom.
Hello Twitter!
Someone has sent a fake e-mail to press outlets saying I’ve resigned.
This is totally untrue. I hope one of first moves is to eliminate fake news on Twitter…
Very exciting I know, but complete and utter tosh.
Every day since March 29th ticked by I’ve been surprised how little the majority of those within the bubble I work in don’t get why people outside it are livid we haven’t left the EU. We could/should have left on that date with/without a deal and people are right to be angry.
Looking forward to the wide-spread coverage of this:
Awful results for my Party tonight, but whilst our teams of candidates didn’t deserve them, our Party did. We should have left the EU on 29th March, as we promised, with or without a deal. The message about leaving on 31st Oct is crystal clear.
The Sue Gray report has been published and the PM has apologised.
There are many issues our country faces and Parliament needs to look outwards and address those.
Our PM is a man who has consistently got the big calls right and will continue to do so.
Today I have declared my support for Boris Johnson to be the next Leader of the Conservative Party. I’m sure that with him as PM we will be leaving the EU on 31st October and our country will have a bright post-Brexit future.
Yep! Once ‘No Deal’ was taken off the table, the EU shut up shop and left us to negotiate a potentially weaker position with ourselves within Parliament.

The reason for the Brexit deadlock is because No Deal was taken off the table and so no incentive for EU to compromise - @Jeremy_Hunt
To the person who stole my glasses:
I will find you eventually - I have contacts.
The PM is seeking compromise in Westminster on Brexit instead of going out to Brussels and getting a better deal in our national interest. I doubt MPs will get to vote on this weird version of her deal and if we do, based on what the PM said yesterday, I won’t be supporting it.
I'm proud to back my friend and fellow Northants MP for leader and PM - Andrea will be the #FreshStart we need. #Andrea4UK

Her speech today outlined what government has done to help people with their energy bills and how we will deliver economic growth to benefit all.
My mate just spent £250 on a limo and just found out it he has to hire a driver separately.
He spent all that money and has nothing to chauffeur it.
As Minister with responsibility for cycling, can I take this opportunity to remind you that cycling is allowed as your one outside exercise of the day, but please keep to the rules announced by the PM last night and socially distance yourself from others.
I am extremely disappointed that the Executive has not reformed.
The people of Northern Ireland deserve a fully-functioning devolved government.

NB: Turnout was lower in most leave areas c/f remain voting ones. I’d humbly remind those spinning tonight is a victory for remain - We’re now at 35% of people choosing ‘no deal’ even after 3yrs of you demonising it. Yes, it is about leaving the EU, but it’s also about democracy.
I’m not “hearing” what some media are saying about MPs moaning about having to scrutinise the #EUDeal over Christmas. That’s our job and every MP I know takes this all very seriously and will do it properly.
👏 Brilliant display of skill by both teams during a terrific contest in Armagh tonight.
🤝 Thanks to for the invitation & the special jersey to remember the occasion.

My thoughts are with those affected by the terrible events in Cresslough, County Donegal today and with the emergency response services who are continuing to work at the scene tonight.
My priority is for NI's political leaders to come together and restore the Executive.
The people of Northern Ireland deserve a fully-functioning devolved government so I understand the public’s frustration.
However, if the parties will not re-form, I will call an election.
The quickest & simplest way to implement Dáithí’s Law remains for the NI Parties to progress this legislation through the Assembly
I share the frustrations of Dáithí & his family. It is extremely disappointing that the NI parties have been unable to come together on this today

It takes 15 minutes for my mate to walk to the pub and 30 minutes for him to walk home. The difference is staggering.
I have been incredibly moved by Dáithí’s story. In recognition of how important this issue is, I will bring forward amendments to the Executive Formation Bill which will allow for the overdue legislation to be made by and see this law become a reality. 1/2

We’re investing £2bn in cycling and walking, including £250m to create more space across the country for cyclists and walkers 🌳🚶🍃. We would urge people to walk or cycle, help protect our public transport network and create a greener transport recovery.

Our cross party Bill now has Royal Assent. Parliament has voted tonight against the damage & chaos that No Deal would cause for jobs, manufacturing, medicine supplies, policing & security.
has done what supposedly was impossible - reopened the Withdrawal Agreement and negotiated an improved deal that delivered on his promises. It is up to all MPs now to do the right thing and vote for this deal. That’s what I’ll be doing.
Everyone should feel safe & confident to hop on a bike – that’s why we’re investing in thousands of miles of cycle lanes, increasing access to cycle training, and making changes to the Highways Code to get even more people choosing to cycle 🚴

It is with significant regret that I am now setting a Northern Ireland Budget.
I have a clear message to the NI parties; if they disagree with my budget, the best outcome is for a restored Executive to consider and revise the position I have set out.

Worth pointing out that the EU doesn't have a trade deal with the US. Obama's threat is actually the status quo.
My Mate got one of those Dyson Ball Cleaners in the sales. Unfortunately, he misunderstood what it was for; which is why I'm now taking him to our local A & E.

The US and the UK share a commitment to protecting the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement. Good to meet US government representatives today to discuss this, and my plans to get the NI Executive back up and running.
promised that a vote 4 in GE19 would mean we left EU in Jan ‘20, which we did and conclude a trade deal by end of Dec ‘20, which we have. Add in a points based immigration system and you get a Government that delivers on its promises.
