Thank you @DeanPreston for your partnership in 2020 as we piloted this program in D5 to support small businesses impacted by vandalism. Victim services shouldn't depend on police successfully making an arrest. Great to see our pilot expand city wide.https://www.sfchronicle.com/crime/article/S-F-store-owners-in-desperate-time-after-16462347.php …

Thank you @chesaboudin and the @ProsAlliance for recognizing that the @SFDAOffice is more than just the hammer of incarceration. Your constituents like me appreciate that we are more than just something to be nailed by your office. #StandWithChesahttps://twitter.com/larabazelon/status/1395502726511927299 …

The Philly DA race, as @Taniel writes, suggests that reformers like Krasner are developing roots--with the voters & in the public consciousness. Voters are realizing that a good prosecutor doesn't use incarceration as a hammer & see citizen as a nail. https://theappeal.org/politicalreport/philadelphia-results-krasner-wins-judges/ …

They certainly shouldn’t be dependent on arrests, but also, crime shouldn’t be rampant all over the city. Please work to fix the court backlog and prosecute the easy to catch crimes happening every day, all over the city.

If you want to support small businesses impacted by vandalism you should charge the perpetrators. We shouldn’t live in a lawless city, reimbursing for vandalism does not take in account the lost revenue the business can accrue from said vandalism.

Citizens, business owners, workers and visitors should depend on you prosecuting cases which you don’t and thus we have these ongoing types of crimes and blight in San Francisco.

He prosecutes cases you are lying to the public. You seem to be never mad about PGE getting a financial settlement but your pissed about i don’t even know what. You displaced/gentrified all these people who are in despair what more do you want them on a CROSS

$2000 often covers as little as a single smashed store front window, and with only $1m in funding it will cover ~500 occurrences. It's great that the city is willing to finally do literally anything on this topic, but lets not call something this marginal a victory.
