This whole experience has created lots of internal conflict for me on this issue. I'm glad we ended cash bail and fully support that. Ability to pay should not be a factor. I'm just worried about diversion being applied incorrectly *in certain circumstances.*
I've led the fight against money bail for years but despite lots of progress we absolutely do still use bail in every county in CA. SB10 would have ended it but was put on hold after the bail industry gathered enough signatures to put it on the ballot in 2020. #endmoneybail
Ah, I see. I am aware we still use a money bail system but I thought it was already decided that would stop. My case is still active (he was charged again after escalating) and I was told that at the prelim, money bail likely won't be considered because of that
