The amount of mental gymnastics people will do to not address obvious things is crazy. I'm sure there's a section of criminals who benefit from reform but I don't think that's the case here. We have the best job growth in the whole country. We need housing and safe communities

It's cool, but people shouldn't be arrested for most of these offenses in the first place (farebeating). Warrants are presumably still issued in these cases. Judges set bail on warrants. This is how Layleen Polanco ended up on Rikers Island for a diversion program.

There is data to support this program. Incarceration for low level crimes is not only infective; it's harmful. https://eji.org/news/study-finds-increased-incarceration-does-not-reduce-crime … "US spent roughly $33 billion on incarceration in 2000 for roughly the same level of public safety it achieved in 1975 for $7.4 billion."

Absolutely. An art course is what will stop these people from preying on our homeless population. Chesa, can you please step down and take Suzy Loftus with you?https://twitter.com/SFPDTenderloin/status/1180923966703034369?s=19 …
