Thank you for reminding me to read the article. Now, I have so many questions. If someone is placed on a hold and released early, but still fits the hold criteria how will the MH provider be able to assist in the pt being admitted into a BHU if there aren’t any beds available?

We have a substantial amount of MH programs in California. Why aren’t we building up those existing programs? Is the focus also on creating funds for more BHUs that are needed?

Also, there are homeless initiatives like SB1152 that are unrealistic to the hospital SWs. Are these changes documented looking into the reality of the MH services versus the needs?

How are mentally healthy people, when arrested, going to be protected from wrongful diagnosis, incarceration in a mental institution, and forced medication? If I'm ever arrested again, I don't want to be drugged & placed in a mental institution. They are worse.
