A documentary that needs to be made is about Sly & The Family Stone. The only “RnB” act to play Woodstock and as much the godfathers, sisters and mothers of funk as James Brown and George Clinton.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Drummie Zeb. A fellow Holland Park Comp student who embodied what made west London so great during the 80’s 90’s it was a pleasure having a few drunken evenings with you in North Kensington. Love to your family and friends.

I both use and sell sample libraries, but advances in fingerprinting technology puts us media composers at risk of not getting paid if we use sampled material in a way that matches 1s and 0s with thousands of other tracks in circulation. Let's discuss...

Greatest cover version of all time? For me Quincy Jone’s take on S Wonders’ Superstition. Only one thing cooler than a clavinet? Bass harmonica. Quincy brings a gun to a knife fight. Your fave cover? I’m sure has views.

We are pleased to announce that Pianobook has had over 1 MILLION Downloads! Thank you to everyone who has contributed in their own little way- our community would be nothing without its members!

Text "1 Million Downloads" with the Pianobook log (the A, B, C piano keys- the C key leans on the B key like a book).

For anyone growing up in the 80s the spectre of nuclear war and the insane relief when that wall came down. The lifting of a miserable veil of fear that we had no control over. Does the passing of Gorbachev leave you with a deep sorrow but also unease? It’s down to us now?

When I can write about anything, I often write nothing at all. Over the years I've learned that strict limiations can lead to focused creativity. This week I discuss the pre-game checklist I work through before tackling a production music track.

… and now I smile every time I switch it on or off. Turns out Bluetooth was just a code named after some Danish bloke called Harald Bluetooth. But the tech took off before they had time to pick another name.

HEDY LAMARR escaped from her Nazi husband by disguising herself as her own maid, became a top actress in Hollywood, then co-developed a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes - the principles of which are incorporated into today's Bluetooth and GPS technology. What a gal.

As a well versed traveller this is the only absolute. You must do this. The horrors hotel chairs have witnessed! You KNOW what hat I’m talking about.

Remember the Stack? Well we’re doing something even more mental at moment. Quote of the year has to be “imagine recording a #### in a Lancaster bomber whilst having a nightmare”.

I think in any profession where problem solving and learning and investigating and exploring is key a super power to develop is tenacity. Prof Brian Cox described “intellectual tenacity” eloquently as an “unwillingness to tolerate a superficial understanding of something”.

Music begets music. What I love about the sugar rush of composing is the more you do it the more it gives you. It’s like a fever. My 4 hour daily rule means I treat my time composing as precious, an honour so I don’t fuck about I just get on with it. #onlywaytodoitisbeinthemoment
