Just a quick note that if you've tried to email me since May at kchen@aaww.org, I didn't receive your email, and I don't have access to that email now. Feel free to DM me for my personal email address!

If you're free today at 2-3pm, listen to Youmna Chlala talk about The Paper Camera. Etel Adnan calls it "remarquable 'camera' work where the film keeps moving along people who're running from city to city, continent to continent"

One of the things I love about Youmna Chlala's Paper Camera is how it combines the intimacy and beauty you'd associate with, say, Frank O'Hara with theoretical content about migration, language & imperialism and the gestural, polyphony of the feminist strain of Language Poetry...

New Yorkers! The demonstration Saturday is at Times Square (47th/Broadway). is hosting a gathering at 10AM at 320 W 37th St. Bring materials for signs; they'll bring free coffee! The contemporary left needs a strong anti-war movement against American imperialism.

Against the US's effective declaration of war against Iran, join one of the protests in nearly 30 cities across the country this Sat, Jan 4th. A mass antiwar movement is vital for our times. See the details for your city here:

As a teenager, I found myself drawn to the beautiful covers of Vintage/Knopf paperbacks, the contents even more revelatory. Even then, I felt a vision behind these incredible books: I later learned it was Sonny Mehta's. Rest in peace to an editor who likely changed your life too.

Love the stillness and resilience of this poem by Ken Chen. “You watched the illumination from the street pour onto the wall above your bed: a red lasso that looped on the wall, as if the wall had begun to bleed extravagantly.” ⁦

Ken Chen: You crawled back into your motel in a border town near the demarcation line between the nation-state of the living and the underworld. Sleepless, you peered out the window. You could see the neon lights garlanding...
