And the first draft of the book is DONE. Now comes the hectic revision part, plus the bit where I send it out to people who are far, far smarter than I am and ask them to point out where I'm talking bollocks.

My favourite fact about Australia: Melbourne was founded by Batman, and was originally called Batmania. (Seriously, Google it, I'm not joking.)

What is it about "wear a piece of cloth in front of your mouth to stop people from dying" that people find so offensive?

The flight was a watershed moment in aviation safety. Rogers was only 33, and is best known for songs such as Northwest Passage and Barrett's Privateers. It's strange connections like that, perhaps trivial for most, that always give me pause.

I'm always amazed at the weird ways the world connects. For example, do you know why planes have fire alarms in their toilets? It was because of the fire disaster on Air Canada Flight 797. One of the 23 passengers killed was Canadian folk singer Stan Rogers.

I can attest that I have never met anyone so excited about NMR as Sarah. And I have chilled with Kurt Wuthrich, who won the Nobel prize for developing it. And sat next to for years... that dude LOVES an NMR.

German followers! Is there a kids' nickname for dandelions in German? Not Löwenzahn; something that sounds like 'kuplooma'? (Apologies, trying to understand something on a recording).

However invented iPhone Photo "Memories" is an asshole. I do not want my phone pinging loudly in the middle of the night to show me a picture of my ugly face from a year ago. What a pointless pile of tripe.

Totally running out of space to describe how tyres work (and honestly the chapter isn't really about that anyway) so I just stuck a note that says "Read 's book about it if you really want to know more". That's legit, right?

My mum has left a note on the lasagne that it's to be cooked at 180 degrees, and this is the first time that I've ever used a cooking number other than "whatever the oven's max is, the rest of the numbers are pointless". I hate, hate HATE cooking. So let's see if it works.

I don't think they look a lot like dragon balls tbh, but if you had three of them they would weigh...

These are balls of 99% Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the principle psychoactive in cannabis. Their creators, X-tracted labs, call them Dragon Balls. They weigh a little over 3000g.

Genuinely trying to lure scholars with the "Journal of Octopus Research" has such wild goblin energy I just want the little dudes to do well. Nice try, fae.

Just got a spam email asking me if I wanted to publish something about radioactive elements in the "Journal of Octopus Research" and I have so, so many questions right now.
