@DotProto Once again Chrome 80 introduced a regression that breaks one of my extensions (SingleFileZ).
Is it intentional that content scripts can't make XHR on the file URL of the displayed page anymore (with the <all_urls> permission)?

FYI, here is the issue https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1049604 …

Forcing users to launch Chrome with the switch "--allow-file-access-from-file" is not acceptable from my point of view. I'll probably unpublish the extension if this regression is not fixed.

I was able to circumvent this regression by doing the XHR to the file URI in the background script. If you can make anything to make the fix available more quickly than usual, that would be helpful and would show Google can assume regressions introduced in Chrome.

I appreciated the heads up about your issue, but what were you hoping to accomplish with this last tweet?

Indeed, you have the right to recall me I have nothing to hope...

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by "the right to recall me"

Anyway, I asked because implying that I'm not doing my job seems like a very odd tactic. I'm genuinely not sure why you'd say that or what you wanted me to do in response to it.

I naively wished you could help me to publish faster than usual the fix for SingleFileZ. I'm not responsible for that regression. The issue I filled is P1. I found a fix and I wanted that users could benefit from this fix ASAP. Sorry if that was not clear.

I'm a bit upset but it's not against you personally.

Thanks for the clarification. I get where you're coming from and I don't fault you for your frustration. Unfortunately I can't expedite review on this submission (or virtually any other for that matter), but I *can* make sure that the right engineers are aware of the bug report.

Thank you. I can understand that it is not possible to speed things up in any way. I will try to provide a simple example to reproduce the issue on http://bugs.chromium.org if necessary.
