I just prerendered the entire http://stenciljs.com website in less than a second. The site works without JS and is fully indexed by all crawlers, but also progressively clientside hydrates. Always comical to have it explained to me that none of that is possible.

As long as you don't try to serialize shadow root contents, I don't why it would be impossible to do so...

Traditionally, yes. But possible with stencil since it prerenders a flat dom tree, to include shadow content and scoping the styles. Then when it's client side hydrates, it's converted to shadow dom.

Interesting although I am curious to understand why it's converted into shadow dom on client-side since it does not clash with the document (e.g. CSS) when prerendered.
