Unless you follow up your “it depends” or “it’s all about trade-offs” with an actual disposition of WHAT it depends on or HOW to weigh those trade-offs, you’re saying less than nothing. It’s an intellectual pause button.

I'm such a big fan of Play's design. Very difficult problem but so many elegant solutions.https://medium.com/create-with-play/can-designing-on-your-phone-be-better-than-on-your-desktop-b7963ef55ce0 …

Greatness is something you pursue, not something you achieve. It starts with holding your present self to higher standards than your past self. You don't get to lower the bar once you've made it. The higher you climb, the more responsible you are for continuing to raise it.

Interesting. I believe one factor that hurt UX was many graphic designers changing their title to UXD to earn more money. Graphic Design is an important element of ux design but it's not the entire pie. Neither is UXD- though it always wants to be.https://link.medium.com/VcgcSbeFB2

Question for y'all: Some of us at
@figmadesign were having a conversation about the line between a product manager's role and a product designers role. What do you think? How have you seen it work in the past? How SHOULD it work ideally?Hvala. Twitter će to iskoristiti za poboljšanje vaše vremenske crte. PoništiPoništi -

I’d like to crowdsource all the bitsy teensy critical parts of designing digital products. Please reply with things to be designed! Let’s see how big this list is... * error messages, including 404s *forms, including hint text and labels * on boarding, including tutorials ....

A timeline of product decay and increasing monopoly power. With Google’s latest design, all distinction between ads and results have finally vanished completely. Google has become what it was founded to fight: a paid catalogue. https://twitter.com/alexhern/status/1220270685110579201 …

At some point we as a community started infantilizing the beginners. “Beginners will misunderstand/misuse your advice”, etc. Beginners aren’t stupid! They are plenty capable for understanding nuance. Give them more credit. Infantilizing is just another form of gatekeeping.

Pro tip: When working with senior leaders, always answer the question first, then give details. It took me 10+ years to figure this out. As a product person/engineer I always wanted to share the details first. Hope this saves you some years of making these mistakes.

I think one of the biggest super powers designer have is the ability to live longer with uncertainty, allowing them to push past the obvious solutions, and get to the more interesting and novel solutions.

Always aim for greatness, and then correctness. If a team keeps talking about how to do things in the “right” way, they will rid themselves of the possibility of being great. Humans are where we are today, because we explored.https://twitter.com/cellier_/status/1108234144910209025 …
