.@GinaForAustin is now discussing instances in which mass shooters lied on background checks to obtain guns and is pressing for prosecution of those cases.
The newly-elected state rep. @jamestalarico said anyone who has encouraged or supported white nationalists has “blood on their hands.”
Most of the representatives and senators here hail from Dallas and Austin. State rep. Erin Zweiner, from a rural district covering Hays county, said she feels like many gun owners support the restrictions they want to implement.
Zweiner said they are not trying to restrict everyday guns, but instead assault rifles that are “designed to hunt people.”
The final speaker, @EddieforTexas, said he doesn’t know if this press conference will cause anything to happen but “we have to do something.”
