Tagesschau is back with more leaks from German prosecutors about the Andromeda/Nord Stream blasts. The story begs ?s: Could a pleasure boat have really pulled it off? And why do they assume that Russian navy vessels nearby had no explosives on board?

Historians say it took until 1967 for the Red Army to begin recruiting *former* criminals—due to the shortage of men caused by World War II. In Putin’s Russia, convicted murderers were sent into battle within the first year of its Ukrainian invasion. (Via )

I won’t gloss the full report, which found that Amnesty’s press release was too strongly phrased (an interpretation was presented as fact). Here, however, is the summary of the findings on whether Amnesty’s original claim that Ukraine violated IHL was accurate:

Weeks after it was leaked to The New York Times and Guardian, Amnesty has published a review report on accusations its Crisis Team unfairly criticized the Ukrainian army. But a local employee who quit over the affair says other damning charges weren’t addressed in the findings.

Yesterday @amnesty has finally published its report on the 4 Aug 2022 press release in which the organisation accused Ukraine of employing military tactics that endanger civilians. As a former member of Amnesty Ukraine, I have something to say. THREAD 👇 amnesty.org/en/documents/o

This succinct thread by the Nobel laureate is worth reading:

May 18 marks the tragic memorial day of the mass deportation of the Crimean Tatars. The ethnic cleansing of the peninsula was carried out by the order of Stalin. More than 46% of the deportees died of the inhuman transportation conditions and the poverty of the first years. 1/6

Musk accusing Bellingcat of “psy ops” (whatever that means) is no different than mobsters accusing investigative journalists of being tools of CIA, Mossad, you name it. These people live in a conspiracy and cannot understand how much work goes into investigative reporting.

Yes, THAT Bucha. Lula's representative, Celso Amorim, went to Kyiv last week on his visit to meet Zelensky and was taken to Bucha. On his return to Brazil he told a Brazilian reporter that he'd seen the massacre photos and remained unconvinced by what he'd seen.
