Since Trump is twitterin' this morning about the Carter Page FISA materials the NYT and others obtained yesterday via FOIA litigation, here are some takeaway observations about the documents /1pic.twitter.com/abuYCddVfB

Part of the complaint is that the court should have been told it was DNC/Clinton campaign, by name, that funded Steele. We see that the practice of FISA applications is to bend over backwards not to name Americans. Here's a renewal "masking" Trump's identity, for example. /7pic.twitter.com/lBA1eGK2oy
Another big part of the fight was the Nunes Memo's suggestion that the FBI included a Sept. 2016 Yahoo News article as false corroboration of Steele info -- we now know that Steele was actually a source for that article. /8
Specifically, the Nunes Memo underlined with emphasis: "This article does not corroborate the Steele dossier because it is derived from information leaked by Steele himself to Yahoo News." /9
Democrats in February said that was misleading because the purpose of including the article was instead to tell the court that Page had denied the allegations about his meetings in the July 2016 Moscow trip. And that is indeed how the application presents that material: /10pic.twitter.com/8L8Avzkqg8
We also learned the identities of the judges who approved the wiretaps. All were appointed by GOP presidents. (That's not surprising since Chief Justice Roberts, who decides who sits on the FISA Court, has a history of stacking it w/ GOP appointees https://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/26/us/politics/robertss-picks-reshaping-secret-surveillance-court.html …) /11pic.twitter.com/PDMdAIn5JI
Finally, each renewal application grew by a significant # of pages. Bc of heavy redactions we can't know why for sure, but that dovetails with chatter that the renewals (by Trump-era DOJ), to justify extensions, included discussion of useful info the wiretaps had gathered. /12pic.twitter.com/N4jiNyDR7r
Some say the Steele dossier was the sole basis of the application. That's false. There are redacted pages of other facts + we can see it cited info from a prior investigation into Russian spies who sought to recruit Americans. (They targeted Page https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/04/us/politics/carter-page-trump-russia.html … )/13pic.twitter.com/pg6ycTfodB
The FISA warrant never said what the GOP claimed. That’s why they kept demanding something that did, even though they knew there was no such documentation. Now they are going to try saying the information that incriminates Hillary and Obama is hiding in the redactions.
SAD
Yes, I think they (Nunes etc) we're counting on the decades of precedent that the FISA warrants we're never disclosed to the public at all. So they could say that it said, or didn't say, anything they wanted.
Were, not we're. God I hate autocorrect.
There was an obligation to disclose that this was paid political opposition by the Clinton campaign, one of the Presidential candidates in the election. Your tweet is an exercise in self delusion.
This whole concept is laughable considering nearly 8 years of politically motivated digging by the opposing party gave us the Lewinsky scandal.
And of course..... THAT'S NOT EVEN WHAT'S HAPPENING HERE! Four judges agreed with the probability that a Trump campaign advisor was working on behalf of the goddamn Russians! The hypocrisy just wafting off the shameful @gop is foul.
Republicans are desperately pretending they didn't fund Trump-Russia Steele dossier before Hillary Clintonhttp://www.newsweek.com/republicans-trump-russia-dossier-clinton-692664 …
#WE As American Citizens And With Common Sense Knows That The GOP Did Pay In The Beginning But They Finally Figured Out It Wouldn't Help Them Only Hurt Them..
Truth hurts GOP, 'cause they shady as fuk, want other people's kids to go to war, while they sit on they oil' asssses and play golf. Send ole asss GOP to war.
@charlie_savage omits that the POLITICALLY MOTIVATED PARTY that originally hired Steele WAS REPUBLICAN Washington Free Beacon! And REPUBLICAN @SenJohnMcCain DELIVERED THE DOSSIER TO COMEY!
You literally highlighted the lies the FBI told the court. This excerpt literally shows it and you're claiming it says the opposite of what it says. Gaslight harder.
You literally don’t know what words mean.
