I wonder whether an African-American or Hispanic applicant to an Ivy-League school who recorded a perfect score on the SAT or ACT has ever been rejected by any of the schools to which he/she applied? Such rejections are routine for Asian-Americans.

My guess: No.

1310? An Asian wouldn’t stand a chance with a score of 1410.

The discrimination of course is in the fact that the Asian applicant would need an additional 70 points to be in the realm of any material consideration. The letter is only evidence of that.

If people with 1310 SATs are getting into Harvard, I must've had the wrong high school guidance counselor.

Yes. I wouldn't waste money on the application fee if I had a score that low and were from a "non/underrepresented" group, unless I had a good three point shot.

They said PSAT scores. Someone scoring a 1310 or higher on the PSAT (taken Soph. & early Junior yr.) could with hard work get a higher SAT score. Plus some of those kids might do better on the ACT.

I heard 1100 was the bottom line for blacks and hispanics. I scored thirty points higher and was told Rutgers would likely want more.

it was an even greater kindness to be so open about the discrimination with a lawsuit conveniently winding its way through the courts and a 5/4 split in SCOTUS
