When I worked in the US every Asian I met was a computer programmer on about 100K. Most just moved there for the work and money. I think that would put them in the middle class bracket

San Francisco in the 30's red lined Chinese/Asians and blacks. Now Chinese population is 36% and black population is 6%. I understand Asians currently own about half of SF commercial real estate.

Friends of mine escaped South Vietnam as "Boat People" and lived in a Red Cross facility in the Philippines until they could emigrate to the US. They own the best Vietnamese restaurant in town and their daughters, who grew up waiting tables, are honors students at a PrestigU.
