    Political Twitter has never been sillier, never been more hysterical, and never been less like the real world outside of it. It was always a bubble, but now it’s a bubble floating off in space, millions of miles above the subjects it’s discussing. It’s a video game.

    Much as I‘m amused by the idea that I rule with an iron first, this is actually because we’re adults who respect each other despite our often profound disagreements, and because we have no interest in issuing Soviet denunciations of each other on Twitter.

    My hottest take right now is that the reason you see so much acrimony and intra-office conflict at Vox is because they have a union contract requiring just cause for termination. My other hottest take is that the reason you don’t see it at National Review is because they don’t.

    Witch culture: If you’re “accused of witchcraft” but do not wish to be, you must WORK to EARN back people’s respect by owning up to being a witch, LISTENING to those who identified you, and ADVOCATING on behalf of people that you harmed/turned into newts

    You're thrilled to see this for YOUR reasons, not for theirs. And your reasons are, "Oh good, now that black guys did it it'll be illegal!" Do you know how goddamned condescending that is?

    I’ve been saying this for years — that the only way to get the Right to reconsider its gun obsession is to have POC walking down our city streets legally armed to the teeth. I’m thrilled to see this.

    The idea that I would attempt to get Leon, my corevolutionary and oldest friend in politics eliminated is risible. I was only trying get my colleagues to stop ice picking each other and I regret that anyone thinks the ice pick was intended for Leon.

    No, this works the other way around. The carve outs, insofar as they're acceptable, are from the First Amendment; the First Amendment isn't a carve out from employment statutes.
