Can’t believe this is on CBS. This guy @tonydokoupil is so good; such a light touch. Watch & RT.pic.twitter.com/rGyanOATzZ

If you notice, that guy throws in "they may have had more opportunities than others". That point gets underscored exponentially. Building yourself up from nothing is harder than it's ever been, in large part because of the wealth gap.
-
A poor person has to work hard, never make a single mistake, and happen upon a fair amount of luck in order to get rich. A rich person can make mistake after mistake, do mediocre (or no) work, and continue to gain wealth. Anyone who denies that is probably rich.

The part where they interview the rich yacht owners is why we are here. Rich white guys who’s only hardship is what boat to buy next, saying they oppose an extra tax so that poor and middle class family’s can afford to eat. Because they worked hard...like WE don’t. -
I’m all for the american dream. But at what point is it a fair dream when people like trump himself....the rich 1% don’t pay their fair share of taxes while the rest of us do. Then pay off politicians who give THEM a tax break.

THANK YOU. I want to ask the yacht guy “if it’s so easy, why isn’t everyone doing it? Why isn’t everyone successful? If it’s everyone’s for the taking, why are there so few takers??”
-
Because the implication is, the poor are lazy. If they only worked as hard for their money as the rich, they'd be wealthy, too.

Plus, we've already got a progressive income tax system, in theory, so we're agreed that concentrating wealth (or pie) in the hands of a few is destructive. So it's really not "socialism" vs. laissez faire, just a matter of *how* progressive our taxes or other policies should be.

Also, it's not a simple binary choice between the current system and a "full socialist economy". Taxing the wealthiest people in the country a few percent more isn't even close to being a "full socialist economy".

they couldn't possibly work harder than hard-working poor people do
