Just because the city is no longer mandating shelter-in-place doesn't mean the city's typical behaviors isn't significantly different. Many people have temporarily left the city, and those who haven't left are staying home much more in 2020 than they did in 2019.
Either way, I was isolating Q1 data to remove the pandemic factor so as to make a more apples-to-apples comparison which I feel allows for a more accurate representation when getting a sense on how the city is doing in terms of its crime rate.
in more anecdotal reporting, I just got assaulted on Mission and 21st and filed a nice little police report. I'd imagine there is a giant spike in erratic and violent behavior here in the Mission/specific blocks, that is maybe hidden when considering the entire city as a whole.
