I really hate the phrase "flipping burgers." A better way to describe food service work is "being on your feet for hours at a time in a hot busy kitchen where everything you do is monitored and timed."

Working a double-drive thru at McDonalds was legitimately the hardest job I’ve ever done

Same and ive worked two factory jobs since then, one for 4 1/2 years and the other I just started 2 months ago. I would never go back to fast food. Too much work, too little pay.

As a truck driver, I've been treated like a third-class citizen and general waste of air most of my life. Ain't nothin' but a thing. I know different and know most of y'all couldn't do my job.

Damn right. I have a cousin who drives, its hard, exhausting work. Every working person deserves compensation for the toll their work takes on them as well as the time.

Not to mention the frequent dehumanization by both your employers (who alternate treating you like slaves or children) and customers (some of whom I'm convinced go out to eat just so they can take their frustrations out on someone they know is required to put up with it)

This was my biggest issue with working at Mcds. The customers were a nightmare but the coworkers and managers were almost worse at times.
