I've finally gotten around to watching some Jordan Peterson, after seeing someone calling for his 'followers' to be shot. This is an eloquent, rational man, and I've seen a lot of strong evidence that his detractors are a bunch of murderous loons.

When someone as mild as Peterson is considered to be too controversial, we have a broken politics, and most significantly a broken left. Soon we will have a broken society. The result, sooner or later, one way or another, is going to be a reboot back to more traditional society.

on the one hand, he has basic theory of mind about his political opponents and advocates good practices like "first put your house in order" on the other hand, "enforce monogamy", "gee does casual sex necessitate government tyranny" stating these calmly doesn't make them "mild"

He didn't really say 'enforce monogamy' though, from what I recall, he said the reason why societies often do that is to prevent a few males monopolizing all the females. I don't think that's a contraversial statement.

Jordan B PetersonVerified account @jordanbpetersonFurthermore, anyone motivated by the NY Times to assume that what I meant by "enforced monogamy" was anything other than social convention favoring stable pair bonding can think whatever they want, as they no doubt will anyway... https://twitter.com/jordanbpeterson/status/998087424814256128 …2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -

though I haven't actually seen it, but I understand he went on to say, or imply, that males who fail to get a partner turn homicidal (hence the 'incel' shooter). That's the bit I think is crazy myself. We've had as many ppl turn shooter 'cos their youtube chan got demonitized.

yeah poke around his twitter feed a bit, he argues for enforced monogamy from the idea that ~failed males~ get violent

I have previously commented in another thread. The idea that 'failed males' get violent doesn't seem to have much evidence to support it. As for enforced monogamy, that is how our societies are currently set up, in the sense you can only marry one person.

not in any non-word-game sense, or why would all these reactionary assholes be advocating for a return to it, rolling back ~the sexual revolution~, as a cure for anything?

because, frankly, our society increasingly looks like it's coming apart, and 'wind the clock back' is the natural response to that. And as people don't know which clock to wind back or why, they will call for all of them.
