I've finally gotten around to watching some Jordan Peterson, after seeing someone calling for his 'followers' to be shot. This is an eloquent, rational man, and I've seen a lot of strong evidence that his detractors are a bunch of murderous loons.
yeah poke around his twitter feed a bit, he argues for enforced monogamy from the idea that ~failed males~ get violent

I have previously commented in another thread. The idea that 'failed males' get violent doesn't seem to have much evidence to support it. As for enforced monogamy, that is how our societies are currently set up, in the sense you can only marry one person.
-
not in any non-word-game sense, or why would all these reactionary assholes be advocating for a return to it, rolling back ~the sexual revolution~, as a cure for anything?
-
because, frankly, our society increasingly looks like it's coming apart, and 'wind the clock back' is the natural response to that. And as people don't know which clock to wind back or why, they will call for all of them.

but there's a lot of ways to interpret 'enforced monogamy'. That's why I'd rather see a video where he goes into things in some depth.

this is the correct wayhttps://twitter.com/chaosprime/status/997964886536749057 …

ah, this is the government-mandated-gf thing? I'd be surprised if he actually supports that, but we shall see as I get into this more.
-
that's a construction of it, but i don't imagine for a moment that that's what JBP wants. he's said what he wants: "social convention favoring stable pair bonding". y'know, nice wholesome stuff like families sternly but lovingly teaching their scions to stay married
-
well, most people actually want that. Sorry to go all normie on your ass, but that's not a radical position or anything. That's how most people think, especially outside the western world.
-
if i were going to stop wanting human freedom just because most people don't want it, it probably would have happened by now
-
oh, I agree. All I'm saying is that I don't find Peterson's views particularly radical or outragous. I don't flip my lid over them. I've just unfollowed someone for calling for his followers to all be shot. That's what I find outragous. That's the level now.
-
wow, eliminationism about the outgroup, that's sure a new innovation that could only have come about in the current year
