I think the low point of my years of discussing the Palestinian situation was the person who said she though that no action by Israel could result in the Arab world hating them less *or more*. (The guy who thought Palestinians had "no grievances" was a close second.)

i mean, i love me some complacency, complacency is amazing, but do we really have to embrace screamingly nonsensical positions to justify it

this is a true story from my youth. I was at Hampshire College at the time (that's the one I dropped out of). There was a group of student protesters who were trying to agitate about how bad Israel is/was so they decided to blockade the entrance to the cafeteria.
-
The administration let them do this. I don't understand why, but ok, they let it happen. Hampshire is/was an extremely expensive private school with a residential campus. They use a lot of financial aid packages to help non-rich people afford it. Free room + board is a big one.
-
So this created a situation where the rich kids with cars and/or money to order food delivery for a couple of days were unaffected by the blockade. The people who were most heavily impacted were the poorer financial aid students who could only afford to eat at the cafeteria.
-
And the hourly wage workers of the cafeteria (100% of them were black and brown, btw) who were unable to work for those couple of days and thus missed some paychecks.
-
this story is true. it's also allegorical to the left in general.
