Ableism is way more important on the "steel" cases where you don't presume everyone enjoying an activity can see the same colors or hear the same frequencies than avoiding every last insult re: mental status because someone's concerned it might make crazies like me look bad.

my improvisational folk etymology was that it's by analogy with "steelmanning an argument" and means the cases where opposition to ableism is on the most solid ground because it involves a concrete and demonstrable effect on somebody's quality of life
