getting the impression that some kinds of programming have a bad rep because they're twice or thrice as hard to read (time per character) but wind up taking less than a tenth of as much space. higher initial apparent cognitive energy makes it look "harder" even tho' it's not?

wasn't actually sure about the initial statement about relative cognitive energy so was TRYING to make it more nebulous but I guess that didn't work out!!! obviously "not willing to retrain to learn a new thing" is also always a problem.

I think contrived entanglement with a given toolset obscures actual competency and promotes the kind of fragile functionality that only works well in the one case, so destroying the tool-linked jobs tends to be good because it offers more opportunity for growth.
