Of course there are probably also some who've gone off the deep end who have gone well past their frustration and succumbed to bitterness & hate. What do we do with these?

If they're dangerous we lock them up or eradicate them. No other choices. If they can be rehabilitated and safely integrated into society, calling them hateful things we wouldn't call convicted murderers can hardly be constructive.

yeah, i can't defend the over the top things some people are apparently saying, taking responsibility for my own shit is more than enough for me

No need to defend it. We just need to realize that if we treat people like monsters or animals, they might become that which we most fear. Which is what I'd tell any guys who started sharing with me unrealistic views about women.

oh good. you doing this stuff? https://twitter.com/chaosprime/status/991884502577262592 … probably strategically questionable to incorporate attributes that are both changeable and undesired into your sense of self though fwiw

Regarding the notion of "lowered standards" I prefer to view it a bit differently perhaps positively. Of course we've all got our deal-breakers as well as an unchosen desire whose particular direction & intensity we really can't steer or reprogram.

i think there's value in both saying "lowered standards" (frankly acknowledging how the toxic frame constructs it and leaning in) and in reframing in a less damaged way, like "seeking intimacy and not worrying about status"
