That's actually an apt metaphor for a "winner take all marketplace." Losers complaining about injustice & blaming society. That doesn't mean there's no suffering or unfairness. Do we think it would be possible to create some alternate celibate life path with dignity?

It's not necessarily a matter of redistributing sex. It's really about redistributing status & esteem. If we measure manhood & success by the Hugh Hefner ideal, there's no way for them to feel good.

i hope you aren't horrified to learn that you have just identified the actual problem as toxic masculinity but yeah the fact that it's all about homosocial status competition is one of the things that disgusts me most about the incel discourse tbh

that it's conflating existence of a phenomenon with usage of a term and conflating "incels' problem is toxic masculinity" with "toxic masculinity is incels" a problem being ameliorated by massive social engineering isn't the same thing as a problem not existing

I'm in general not a revolutionary and hold a dim view of social engineering of any kind, progressive or reactionary.

Specifically on behalf of incels, the best we could accomplish might to try to teach them charm school. Love Ed, in addition to Sex Ed. Somebody dropped the ball. Maybe their fathers were absent. Why not show these guys how to be the most attractive they can be, approach & woo?

One might think this could be something feminists could get on board with. They've been long demanding we "teach boys not to rape." That is an obvious conclusion they would draw if we teach them how to do romance right, so they could better avoid miscommunications & mistakes.

yeah, sadly that doesn't work out because in the feminist space there's always someone more horrified than the last person at the idea of men trying to interact sexually with women at all, and the space is constructed to enable them
