and here we were always told losers blaming society for their problems was a left wing problem

That's actually an apt metaphor for a "winner take all marketplace." Losers complaining about injustice & blaming society. That doesn't mean there's no suffering or unfairness. Do we think it would be possible to create some alternate celibate life path with dignity?

It's not necessarily a matter of redistributing sex. It's really about redistributing status & esteem. If we measure manhood & success by the Hugh Hefner ideal, there's no way for them to feel good.

i hope you aren't horrified to learn that you have just identified the actual problem as toxic masculinity but yeah the fact that it's all about homosocial status competition is one of the things that disgusts me most about the incel discourse tbh

The intrasexual status competition is certainly PART of it, but besides a desire for esteem & status (that preoccupies both men and women, toxic masculinity or no), there is also a universal intrinsic hunger for companionship & intimacy.

The lonely incel guys I know don't feel "entitled women's bodies" nor are they keen to rape anybody. Sure they're frustrated & sometimes bitter, but mostly they're sweet sensitive guys who yearn for companionship & intimacy. Touch & sex make up only a fraction of their desire.

What's so outrageous about the vitriolic and frankly mean response to their very existence is the complete denial of their humanity. Of course nobody expects anybody to actually DO anything. But a little recognition of their humanity and effort for empathy might be constructive.

The media is always sharing the hard-knock-life stories of actual murderers trying to make us pity them. Why can't we have a little compassion for these guys when their only sin was to express desire?

Of course there are probably also some who've gone off the deep end who have gone well past their frustration and succumbed to bitterness & hate. What do we do with these?

If they're dangerous we lock them up or eradicate them. No other choices. If they can be rehabilitated and safely integrated into society, calling them hateful things we wouldn't call convicted murderers can hardly be constructive.
