huuuh is it actually that unpleasant? I believe you but I am also taken aback I guess! Like, the outgroup couldn't actually be THAT bad?

it's not consistent or anything, there are lots of people who are pretty solidly blue tribe who i'd feel mostly comfortable letting my hair down around, but i really do feel like i'm walking on eggshells with the broader milieu a lot of the time
-
and it's experience-based, i have absolutely been instablocked for the most mild and diffident dissent, Ashe Dryden was my first

-
something entirely differenthttp://slatestarcodex.com/2014/09/30/i-can-tolerate-anything-except-the-outgroup/ …
-
ok before i click on that is slate star codex an nrx thing or what because i have both bad memory and a memory of someone calling it bad
-
lots of people consider it bad, i'm sure; it's not nrx
-
I would say it occasionally provides insightful analysis but is logorrheic beyond any conceivable justification and has notable blindspots, particularly around women. within those limitations, it can be valuable.
-
gonna make a new blog and call it short star codex and distill each post down to a paragraph

It is way easier when you're arguing with the ingroup, isn't it? So much more tolerant
-
do you really think that's all it is
-
Mm kind of. I disagree with Blue folks on the regular with no issues and I think it’s bc I speak in ingroup ways about it. It’s also partly that Grey values Discourse more than Blue does these days so you’re not totally off base.
-
Also sorry I spelled grey differently from you if that’s racist
