I suspect what they really want is acknowledgment / validation of their imagined superiority and overlordship. Not just sex, but sex as tribute. That's why just getting the experience they ostensibly lack doesn't satisfy.

I also have my doubts as to how deprived some of these guys really are—and I'm surprised that their claims of deprivation are so seldom questioned. I suspect that umbrage at perceived deprivation correlates poorly with actual deprivation.

Elicitation of sympathy, justification of righteous indignation, disarming of privilege-based critiques. Possibly others forms of manipulation.

It seems really unlikely that there are not actually large numbers of lonely people experiencing genuine suffering over their love life or lack thereof. I have spent significant parts of my life in that state myself.

It isn't exactly difficult to see how that experience, with less commitment to respect the autonomy of others, a more externalizing coping style and more willingness to let resentment and bitterness fester could take one in pretty twisted directions

Do not forget that the contemporary incel subculture was actually created by a queer woman and was much, much less dark when I first became aware of it ca. 2000. It twisted itself over time, gradually.
