Amazon is fucking with erotica novels https://the-digital-reader.com/2018/03/29/amazon-has-shadow-banned-romance-titles-from-the-kindle-store/ … @inkbitspixels
Why is the mainstream commercial internet so anti-sex?
-
-
As I understand it, they’re not anti-sex in a vacuum: chargebacks are much higher (“pay money to a porn site? no, honey, I would never, someone must have hacked our credit card”)
-
yeah but that feels like a bit of a fig leaf to me
-
The credit card co.s are pretty... economically rational... as far as I’ve observed
-
i agree, i just think they're being rational about things that are harder to explain to people than that
-
Chargebacks are higher but not entirely ruinous, if it was just chargebacks they would just raise their fees and then everything would be rosy, otherwise it's a lot of money to turn their nose up at. It's because it brings Feds to their door. Need a processor that can't be FBI'd.
-
The pressure to squeeze erotica off the shelves is going to lead lots of authors to try to get shit past the censors instead of submitting to this, which is going to make books on Amazon be Fun.
