i've been a straight-A's upper-middle-class college student. i've been a crippled dropout. poor. a junkie. i've known well-off tech folks and homeless young people. the one thing that's consistent is how much good it always feels like we could do if we could just pull together.

Yeah, i've been thinking more and more about this. I mean, my actual praxis has always basically just been "take in strays and give them what they need to get back on their feet" as much as possible.

I really wish i had a lot more money to do it with, let me tell you. As it is, though, my one trans woman friend who was in an abusive situation and had no clue how to transition when i took her in, now has a high-paying tech job in Amsterdam & is paying it forward, so yay :)

nice! the abused teenage girl i took in trashed my home, filled it with fleas, and then ran off to Chicago with a high-school friend of mine and left me holding the bag ^_^
