Well, first feels like stabbing around in someone's barely maintained opensource project, second feels like being locked in one of Lady of Pain's mazes.
Google has absolutely no idea how to do QA outside its main Search product and, to a very limited extent, gmail. Apparently they aren't very good at "search result management QA" as well (and I'm sure "shop moderation" is very low on their totem pole)
