when you do talk therapy, you have to make your experiences into a narrative and explain your motivations to one or more other people in a way that makes sense this is essentially a form of dissociation from your experience and an attempt to install false memories

It seems a large part of 'you' is created or accreted before language restructures your brain into a functional grownup OS. The pre-verbal person is the structure upon which the grownup is built and the two states often have trouble communicating. Narrative may help. Or not
