It's always puzzled me that ad networks apparently allow for advertiser-provided JS at all. You'd think they'd want to sell only standardized known units, not 'can do anything' ones.

Apart from any security risks to end users, it feels like advertiser-provided JS ought to be exploitable to get more ad than the advertiser is actually paying for. Ad networks presumably do care about that.
