Christianity would be a lot cooler if it was ditheistic and the old angry god of the old testament was male and the god of the new testament was the revealed heavenly mother.

I do think there was a clear push from Christianity to eliminate pagan goddess worship/enforce a patriarchal priesthood though, so the ultimate generalization of the christian god isn't random, imo.
