I feel like the general feeling about the book was positive when it came out. Idk if I have a different set of friends now or if we all just used to be that thing and now we aren't. I haven't read it lately or seen it but I remember greatly enjoying it.

i liked it! then i found out that it wasn't parodying the way nerds think replicating an exact laundry list of consumption choices is what makes an ideal human being, that This Is What Ernest Cline Actually Believes, and i became filled with existential horror

Ah I see, yeah I try not to learn about Author's Intentions if I can avoid it. It is so often disappointing.

I liked “Ready Player One” better when it was called “Welcome to Eltingville”: https://youtu.be/4gK0uNlLa3s

Or “Undocumented Features”, for that matter.

I WAS going to bring up “Free Enterprise,” but that would just be cruel.

I hate Ready Player One for its optimistic world view

That book made me rage so hard. I bought it on a massive discount and still feel ripped off.
