you donate to the foundation, monthly or whatever. you have settings for how intensely you support various creators. each month, the foundation totals up its money, takes out its operating expenses, and issues the rest in grants to creators based on Dat Algorithm.
-
Dat Algorithm uses your support levels as one of its inputs, but also uses impressions/likes on creators' on-site output, has guards against being used for money laundering, and generally makes it so the service isn't a passthrough, trying to avoid this:https://twitter.com/chaosprime/status/939400180675350530 …

don't really understand what you're saying. any fixed percentage isn't workable because non-profits can't retain very much money; fixing it at 5% like Patreon could easily lead to breaking the accounting
-
my gut response to the prospect of an accusation of "profiteering" in an organization that legally isn't allowed to have profit, b/c drawing a salary, is "i'm building a platform to facilitate you getting paid, and i can't get paid? let me be the first to say: fuck you, pay me"
