Also the constant standardized tests at every level, which have only gotten worse. Then you end up with SATs and LSATs and GSB or ASVAB or whatever. Constantly quantified, hard not to think in quantities.

See also all “value” comes from quantity. 25% more in the box. 10% bigger sandwich. 5% larger than the competition. We tried “tastes better” a couple times in the 80s but it didn’t work.
